Description

Island Dreams brings you the best diving in Mexico - offering big value, and bigger fun! Cozumel's world-renowned diving offers limitless walls, excellent visibility, wonderful marine life, and plenty of excitement.
Drift diving is excellent (and easy), just go with the flow. Mexican, American, and Continental fine dining, and a sympatico nightlife will make you shout Ole! Add great shopping, fascinating Mayan archaelolgical sites, deep sea fishing, wave runners, wind surfing, para-sailing, and more. Cozumel is simply a great dive spot and scuba travel vacation destination.

The island of Cozumel Mexico is one of the world's most popular destinations. Located about 40 miles off the shore of the Yucatan Peninsula, Cozumel Mexico has a variety of intriguing activities, including scuba diving, snorkeling, golfing and a host of tours. Long before the Spanish began colonizing the island, the ancient Mayans inhabited Cozumel Mexico.
The Mayans believed that the island held special powers to aid in fertility and childbirth. Women from all parts of Mayan civilization came to Cozumel Mexico to worship. Like the ancient Mayans, today many cruise ship passengers and tourists still flock to Cozumel Mexico each year. Cruises are one of the more popular ways to visit Cozumel. Cozumel travel often involves a cruise ship tour of Cozumel and other spots along the Yucatan. The island also has its own airport, which makes Cozumel travel quite convenient.
Depending on the location of your hotel and your specific Cozumel travel plans, you may want to rent a car at the airport. If not, there will be plenty of taxis waiting to take you wherever you need to go. A typical Cozumel Mexico vacation can include anything from lying on the beach, to touring the jungle.
Ancient Mayan civilizations still exist in their primitive form and tours of the ruins are readily available. Note that most tour companies do not operate on national holidays, so you may want to book your tour in advance to be sure you'll have a spot. Another popular tour takes place in the water.
Dolphin Discovery Cozumel gives guest the chance to swim with dolphins. For a moderate fee, guests will be allowed to swim amongst, touch, and play with, dolphins. Although there are age requirements, the dolphin swim program is also an excellent choice for Cozumel family travel.
Cozumel package travel allows guests to book hotels, flights and various activities all at once. Check online or with your travel agent to find promotional offers. Also, note that travel during the summer months tends to be less expensive. If you would like to include shopping on your Cozumel Mexico vacation, you'll find a wide jewelry market near the shore. Since Cozumel is a popular stop on most cruise line journeys, the most boisterous markets are to be found at the cruise ports. An incredible stock of Cuban cigars, inexpensive liquor, and unique Mexican arts and crafts are displayed daily at the markets. For the best restaurants, travelers will be best off heading toward town, where a nice range of locally prepared foods can be found. Cozumel Mexico is one of the world's most popular vacation destinations for a reason. Whether you make plans to stay near the beach during your Cozumel travel, or venture inland to tour ancient Mayan ruins, there is no shortage of fun activities to enjoy in Cozumel Mexico.

What can I say.. I have been going there for (what! has it been?) 27 years!

Here is my observation: As with ever trip depending on weather, the dive shop and other conditions.. there can always be something bad happen... but the ONLY bad dive I have ever been on was in the Mediterranean... I used to say there are no bad dives ONLY better ones...

ok
Marine life... the rating says Hammerhead Sharks and Whales... Never seen either. Not that it is impossible .. but why say it? I have seen many strange things .. even a 5 foot Sun Fish.. I can recommend some dive shops and some special dives (Tortugas) but will not list them here.. dont want to piss any one off. But suffice to say some are better than others.. and to each their own..

Visibility - is EXCELLENT... of course depending on currents and rain... but HEH FOLKS.. it IS the tropics and your gonna get rain! Never understood people going to dive.. to get wet.. and take off running inside the boat when it rains... LOL

Overall Dive Experience.. depends on the day.. how early you get there.. (before others move everything off).. and LUCK... I dont go the cattle boats and the tourist dives .. named so popular but are really just easy work for the captain and dive masters... ask me I will make suggestions...

Accessibility.. is the only 4.. and that is because I stay downtown... and while I used to walk to the dive shops and as far as the El Presidente... it is now (in my older age) time to take taxi.. and it is still 45 minutes fast boat to most of the morning dives... so it is not as easily accessible as if you were staying out at the South Shore newer dive hotel resorts.

Worth the travel... I can still get round trip from Dallas for $98 to 129.00 (plus tax) so damn straight! So you will know this is not ten years ago date today is 6 / 16 / 09 and I can book it today for that.

Now.. something they left out...

FOOD... go to El Moro.. NOT los or las Moro... taxi's will take you to the wrong one because they get paid to! LOL...

Ask for Rudolfo or Luci the owners... its all family and they will treat you GREAT.. If its night you might think the taxi is taking you some place to rob you.. this is NOT a tourist restaurant!

Now .. shhhhh.. be quiet.. dont tell anyone.. but even the NY Times has called and asked them about the story behing the Zachaias Special on the meniue...

Just tell them Zacharias sent you.. and that I am a friend.. ALL DIVERS ARE FRIENDS>>>>

and they will take care of you... if they dont.. please let me know.. I will kick some butt!

Mi Corazon es Cozumel...
