Description

The Tenggol group of islands is the most southerly of Terengganu's Marine Parks is situated between Redang and Tioman. It consists of Pulau Tenggol, Pulau Nyireh (Nyireh Island), Tokong Timur, Tokong Talang, Tokong Burung and Tokong Kemudi.

The main island, Pulau Tenggol, is about 50 hectares in size and is one of the most beautiful and serene islands off Peninsular Malaysia's east coast.

It is also famous for its spectacular rocky cliffs that offer many excellent dive sites. There are several submerged rocks and here, one can find pristine coral formations and a number of submerged rocks with excellent coral growths some pristine coral formations here with the walls dropping down some 48 meters in depth.
The deep waters surrounding the island offer good visibility especially during the months of April until June.

With the frequent patrol , strict action and conservation by the Department of Fisheries Malaysia. The island and its diving site are unspoiled and much of the reef remains intact. and the most importantly its is very far from the tourist bee hive like Redang, Perhentian and The Kapas Island and there only one resort here. Thus leaving much of dive site uncrowded.

Marine life that can be seen here includes sharks, rays, nudibranch, bumphead parrotfish, jacks, lizardfish, occasional whitetip sharks and a wide variety of hard and soft coral. Before being declared a marine park, Pulau Tenggol was a favourite hunting ground for spear-fishermen, particularly for snappers and groupers.

Kuantan Wreck
She is resting on her port side, at 23 meters deep. The top of the wreck is at 14 meters and is easily dived by novice divers. Surrounding the wreck are large wire-mesh fish traps scattered by local fishermen. Her length is about 80m and she is 10m wide. The propeller is still in tact and quite large. It is covered with growth and its crack is also the home of a moray eel.

She carried crude oil when she sunk. The wreck is situated at about 20 nautical miles off the coast Kuantan. There are two resident, big, groupers of 1.5m and 1m in lenght, sometime you'll see two leopard sharks, a guitar shark, schooling jacks, batfish, barracuda, giant sting rays, snapper, eels and turtles.

Pulau Kapas
This small island north of Tenggol also has a wreck off its coast, the 50 year old Japanese landing craft wreck sits upright. Her anti aircraft guns lie at the bow, carpeted with growth of soft corals and sponges. Frequent encounters with whale sharks at this site makes up for its poor visibility.
