Scuba diving with Sea Escapes at Sodwana Bay promises to be one of the best diving experiences offered in this underwater paradise.. The warm Indian Ocean currents and isolated beaches of Sodwana Bay's coastal forest offers exceptional scuba diving and snorkelling.
Situated within the Isimangaliso Wetland Park, in Zululand, our pristine reefs are a diver's delight to dive throughout the year. We are serious about what we do, so when we offer you personalised scuba diving at your convenience, with people you would like to share it with, we mean it! Safety is our main concern, above and below the waves, so our 7.2m scuba diving boat is fully equipped with safety gear, life jackets, medical kit and oxygen. Lindsay, our skipper, is a qualified dive master, and trained oxygen administrator, and is sure to give you an comfortable launch through the waves at Sodwana Bay. Then on to a memorable scuba diving experience on one of our many awesome coral reefs which abound with 84% of all the fish families in the world.
In addition Sodwana Bay is home to 30% of the hard corals and 60% of the soft corals. For the adventurous diver, sightings of sharks, whales and whalesharks are not uncommon, and dolphins, turtles and rays are easily found on the reef. Scuba diving at its best on 30 different dive sites!
The African sunset sees you sipping sundowners beside the pool at Toad Tree Cabins, or exchanging tales around the camp fire, to the sound of African drums and the sizzling of meat on the braai.
The accommodation at the lodge is rustic and affordable, surrounded by indigenous bush and game and has all the facilities you would need. We are committed to the conservation of our coral reefs and dunes, and strive to give our guests an eco-tourism experience to remember. Scuba diving courses and training can be arranged, either in Johannesburg or Sodwana Bay, including PADI, NAUI, CMAS and SSI. We are not just another scuba diving operator, we live to dive!

I can't complain about the diving but If I could rate the Toad tree Cabins lower I would; WE WERE ROBBED WHILE IN OUR ROOM. On our last day we were packing and our 1 year old daughter was tired and needed a nap. We were staying in a self cater unit and had a separate bedroom. While we were in the back packing our daughter napped in the front area. Our front door was locked with the deadbolt lock on the door. As the units have no Air-con we had to leave the windows open and the provided fans on. While our daughter had a nap someone, using a homemade stick, reached through the security bars and took the keys out of the deadbolt. The stick was approximately 3 meters long so this wasn't a simple reach.... these guys had done this before. My wife heard a small noise we thought was our daughter and opened our bedroom door to have a look... OUR FRONT DOOR WAS WIDE OPEN. We looked around and found the stick along with the personal belongings that were missing and stolen. The owners of Toad Tree Cabins assured us this was a first… but we know better. I spoke with other guests that day and on previous days we were there only to find out other cabins had been robbed earlier that week. Our host did not feel any need to tell us about it. Our situation was not shared either, hence why I am writing this today. I personally walked their secure fence perimeter myself, looking for items they may have discarded of my wife’s, and witnessed several previously repaired holes were thieves had passed before as well as the hole used for our robbery.
As a side note we also had to exterminate at least 2 large cockroaches per night and on one occasion my wife was awoken by one running across her pillow shortly after going to bed. Relatively speaking this was a minor concern but needs to be raised none the less.
