Before choosing to do your IDC, your Dive Master or a Go Pro package with Pro Dive Mexico, read this & think twice! Especially if your choice is based on the professional look of their website and the speed with which they reply to you. Before I paid for a several thousand dollars Go Pro package, the communication via emails & Skype with the course director and impression I got from it were all very good and professional. In reality from the moment you pay the package, the communication and information becomes a lot “drier”, in the way, sorry I don’t have time for you now you have paid… The thing is that quite a few members of my group felt the same way, hence me writing this review to inform you guys! Before I opted for the package I was lured into the fact that I would certainly be employed by Pro Dive after my IDC as Pro Dive were expending. Don’t fall for that, it’s a lie! Every month there are about 10 people certifying with them on average so there are simply not enough positions, it’s only a baiting technique. I was told I would be picked up from the airport when I would arrive in Cancun, only to find a few days before flying out to Cancun that the course director who was supposed to pick me up was on holidays for a couple of days! Not a good start. I was then gob smacked by the lack of organisation and professionalism of the instructors who for some, delved heavily into sexual harassment and for the others in the apology of drug taking and binging to sound “cool”. Another thing you are not told before opening your wallet is that the centre where you will be spending all your day is a resort located 50 minutes away from Playa del Carmen centre, which means that you get picked up at 7am by a van in which you are cramped to return back to playa at 6pm. When you arrive in the morning the centre is closed because no one is there so you wait around for the base leader to come and open the centre. In a logical world, the base leader should arrive earlier than a group of 10 customers who for some have paid thousands of dollars, but at Pro Dive Maroma, these customers can wait! You also have to wait sometimes for hours for the instructor to sort his stuff out to proceed with the course.
When you read the website offers, you are under the impression that you will go diving to Cozumel, you will go to Cenotes and different dive sites, lies once again! Unless you complain heavily that you have not been diving in a different reef, they will not send you to a different reef.
Last but not least, the life long free dive policy which is advertised on the website is not an existing offer any more, so why is it on the website then?!
To cut a long story short, Pro Dive and their Go Pro unit are interested in your money and that’s it! If I had known that before, I would not have opted for this company. The dive reviews you can read are all about normal dives i.e. customers who do a few dives with them and therefore these reviews are not relevant for the Go Pro customers who spend weeks or months with them. I have not found one review relating the Go pro packages experiences and this is why I am writing this review.

To close on the subject, I would add that the life expectancy of an instructor working for Pro Dive Mexico is about 3 months on average. Needless to say that they treat their staff like chess prawns moving them from one base to another without explanation & notice or not giving them their weekly day off for a couple of weeks and using the sales target figures to keep constant pressure on their staff. Who said that being an instructor was fun?? Certainly not Pro Dive Mexico!!
