DescriptionSihanoukVille is located on the coast of Cambodia, about halfway between Thailand and Vietnam, on the Bay of Thailand. A spread out tourist town for both foreigners and local people from all over the country. Three sides of the town are bordered by tropical beaches and islands. Filled with empty beaches, crowded beaches, seafood, restaurants, bars, Buddhist Temples, casinos, hotels, and more beaches. At several hundred places, English is spoken; and many French speakers are here as well. Beaches and Islands: The town of Sihanoukville is surrounded on 3 sides by the Bay of Thailand. From the beaches and surrounding hills, many of the country's small islands can be seen. Many of the beaches are filled with grass hut restaurants and bars, some of the beaches are rocky, a couple are big resorts, and some are pure sandy beach. world. Buddhist temples, mountain biking, walking around downtown and the central market, shopping, and seeing the Cambodian culture are also popular activities. Waters here are still unspoiled with an abundance of marine life. Giant clams, sea oysters, gorgone and fans 10 meters. There are more than 20 islands and miles and miles of coral reefs that can be reached in one day by boat. Diving outfitters say that the islands are in three groups: Kampong Som, Ream and Royal Groups. The Kampong group is said to have very good beaches and diving. K. Pos is a short 800 meters off Victory Beach. One km west is K. Koang Kang which has recreation offerings like shallow rocky reefs for great snorkeling and two beautiful beaches. The best island is probably K. Rong Samloem which can take up to 2 1/2 hours to get to. You can see a beautiful heart shaped bay as you approach this island. You will find around 9 beaches on this island even some sheltered ones on the northern side where you can see K. Kon. Both islands have rocky reefs which contain an abundance of marine life in both deep and shallow waters. Great scuba, snorkeling and picnic areas. From November to February it is better to visit the sheltered Ream group of islands as the wind is to strong around the Kampong group. They are about 1 1/2 hours away. The shallow waters can have limited visibility. K. Khteah, K. Chraloh and K. Ta Kiev are best for snorkeling. Giant mussels can be seen on the north side of K. Ta Kiev island. K. Russel can be camped on if you want to overnight it as it has a great beach on the northeast side. By far the best scuba diving area is K. Tang, K. Prins and Poulo Wai but they are 7 hours away to the southwest. Excellent visibility in waters to 40 meters that are teaming with marine life. A sea lovers paradise. K. Prins has some shipwrecks and a downed US helicopter at 35 meters down.
