Description

Note from the publisher: the 3 stars note is to mention that it might be a difficult experience for non experienced divers. Some dive shops accept divers with only 6 dives but this is not recommended for safety matters in regards to strong currents. However if you are experienced we can put 5 stars as it is a true thrilling experience.

Komodo Marine Park is a protected
area consiting of many islands, the main islands being Rinca and Komodo.
Komodo is famous for its best diversity of dive site character, maximum density and diversity of aquatic life, and the fact that all can be found here from bid to small.
Manta Point maybe the site with most manta sightings in the World with record days of 100 (!) Mantas, many times to be seen even at the surface!
In all, Komodo offers 146 listed dive sites with more to explore. Most diving takes place from the `Gateway to Komodo, Labuan Bajo, in the North East of Flores, Eastern Indonesia.
Most dives are day trips as the most popular dive sites are reached in 1 - 2 hours. Amongst the most famous are destinations like Castle Rock, Crystal Rock, Batu Bolong, and Manta Point yet Siaba Kecil, Tatawa Besar, The Cauldron, Golden Passage and Light House offer excellent drift dives and Tatawa Kecil, Tengah Kecil, and Bonsai Tree further brilliant small islands with large underwater mountains!
Diving is great most of the year, its rare (e.g. 1 day in 14 months) that we could not go out because of waves. We dive 360 days a year, 3 dives a day!

Komodo is a world class dive destination. Mega fauna can be found on almost every site, not too mention the abundance of macro life. The reefs are generally in great condition and at some sites the water temperature can drop below 24 deg. Be aware that most sites will have strong current.

Editor Comment: we totally agree with above comments. Mainly it is highly required to be advanced diver to dive in this region. Often you will do drift dive. Be sure to be guided NOT by foreigners who are here only for few weeks but local under foreign supervision. Some local own dive shops dont bother with security and often dont have O2 tank on the boat. Fauna and flora are stunning.
