Dive Site around Tioman Island.

1. Chebeh Island: There are a number of spots around Chebeh Island, the most popular being the northeast and southeast corners. The large volcanic rocks form canyons and swimthroughs often full of schooling yellow tail fusiliers, there is also a large cavern filled with glass fish around the 20 meter mark on the southeast corner. Gorgonians are common on the walls here along with barrel sponges and soft corals of every colour. Bigger pelagic often visit this site and a manta or whale shark may even be spotted on their migratory route from the north during the earlier months of the season. Depth: 5 - 30m Viz: 10 - 30m Currents: Can be strong Getting there : Boat 30 min Best months: April / Sept

2. Fan Canyon: is famed for its huge Gorgonian sea fans clinging onto the volcanic boulders. There are a number of swimthroughs amongst the jumbled boulders where smaller creatures and even a ribbon eel maybe spotted. A couple of locations around Tulai Island can be dived namely Kador Bay, Genting Bay and Malang Rocks. Marine life includes hump-head wrasse, moray eels, lion fish and crown of thorns starfish. Depth: 5 - 25m Viz: 5 - 20m Currents: Can be strong Getting there : Boat 30 min Best months: April / Sept

3. Labas Island: A long rocky outcrop essentially comprises this dive site. Beneath the surface are myriad cracks and crevices with make up countless swimthroughs and caves. It has the best of both worlds; plenty of nooks and crannies for the adventurous and beautiful coral gardens for the relaxing dive. Look out for lion fish, cowries and nudibranchs here. Labas can actually be dived twice, once at each end. Depth: 5 - 22m Viz: 5 - 20m Currents: Occasional Getting there : Boat 30 mins Best months: April / Sept

4. Sepoi Island: is one of the further islands from Tioman, hence it is not dived as frequently as the others. Often done as a drift dive around the island up and over the volcanic boulders. Golden Reef Just off the northeastern edge of Sepoi Island is a submerged reef where sea fans, soft corals and sponges are all competing for space. Featherstars, worms and gastropods are all common on the protected reef. Fish life here includes moon wrasse, angelfish, butterflyfish, pufferfish and coral groupers. Depth: 5 - 25m Viz: 5 - 20m Currents: Occasional Getting there : Boat 45 mins Best months: April / Sept

5. Tiger Reef: This submerged reef lies in the channel between the islands of Sepoi and Labas. Some impressive coral formations can be seen here such as plate, brain and fire coral. It is one of the most impressive reefs in the area, covered in hard and soft coral it attracts thousands of fish including snapper, fusiliers, batfish, jacks and tuna. Since currents are often stronger barracuda and blacktip sharks put in an appearance here. Depth: 5 - 25m Viz: 5 - 20m Currents: Can be strong Getting there : Boat 45 mins Best months: April / Sept

6. Bahara Rocks: This southern spot is one of Tioman's better dive loactions. The drop offs here are covered in barrel sponges, black coral and anemones and soft red and purple corals. The marine life here is prolific with numerous species of fish and bigger animals. Sharks are often spotted in the depths around the two giant rocks rising from the reef plateau. Visibility can be good here but currents can be strong. Depth: 5 - 26m Viz: 10 - 30m Currents: Can be strong Getting there : Boat 20 mins Best months: April / Sept

7. Renggis Island: is one of Tioman's top dive spots, hence it can get busy at times. Sub surface on the eastern side of the island is a reef teeming with life with all manner of corals, sponges and anemones and a multitude of fish. This site is often used for training and night dives, it is also one of the better places to spot turtles and blacktip sharks. The western side of the island has a lot of Gorgonians and is home to several turtles and a resident giant barracuda called Boris. Venturing off the island reefs and into slightly deeper water will reveal a couple of Thai fishing wrecks that house a moray eel. There is also another "hidden reef" out here with equally as impressive corals and fish life. Depth: 5 - 20m Viz: 5 - 20m Currents: Occasional Getting there : Boat 20 mins Best months: April / Sept

8. Soyak Island: This tiny island just off Salang Bay has a number of submerged boulders covered in corals and teeming with fish such as butterflyfish, parrotfish and angelfish. The main highlight to this spot though are the two wrecks lying in 24 meters of water just off the island. They are covered in soft corals and play home to a giant grouper and often blacktip sharks. Depth: 5 - 25m Viz: 5 - 15m Currents: Occasional Getting there : Boat 15 mins Best months: April / Sept And many more divesite.
