Description for the dive shop Lacadives - IndiaLacadives is India’s premiere SCUBA diving operator! Since its inception, Lacadives has trained over 2000 beginners and has played host to countless certified divers from all over the world. Its vision comprises of providing to its clients, not just a memorable experience but one that is transformational in nature. Since its inception, Lacadives has endeavoured to sensitize its guests to the sustainability of the environment and through this experience, involve, educate and create an awareness and passion for the underwater world which is being eroded in front of our eyes. With two dive centres in the Lakshadweep, one in the Andamans, and one each in Mumbai and Bangalore, Lacadives is the only dive operator to establish its presence on both sides of the sub-continent. With an ever growing pool of dedicated instructors trained to the highest international standards of both CMAS and PADI, Lacadives today embodies the spirit of the legendary Jacques Cousteau, the father of SCUBA diving. It is in his words that we have found our truth; may we be blessed to share this gift with all. “From birth, man carries the weight of gravity on his shoulders. He is bolted to Earth. But man has only to sink beneath the surface and he is free.” In 1995, Prahlad Kakar – one of India’s leading ad-film makers – had an experience which in his own words was “the nearest to spirituality (he) ever got”. On his very first dive in Mauritius he found an old Koran at the bottom of the reef. This mesmerizing first dive led to the dream of sharing the magic of the underwater world with many who were oblivious to the bliss of scuba diving. The realization of that dream first took root on Kadmat, one of the magical jewels in the little-known Lakshadweep island chain, off the western coast of India. A team of instructors, including Prahlad and his wife Mitali, was assembled under the banner of the World Underwater Federation (CMAS). Under the expert guidance and tutelage of the legendary Hugues Vitry, Staff Instructor and Indian Ocean Coordinator for CMAS, Prahlad set up India’s first recreational diver training facility. Lacadives has come a long way since its inception on Kadmat. Our operations now include 5 dive centers between the Lakshadweep and Andaman Islands, 2 mainland operations in Mumbai and Bangalore, and affiliations with CGH Earth – one of the leading hotel chains in the country – and ANET – the leading research and conservation NGO in the Andaman Islands. The Lacadives team has safely trained over 2000 beginners and hosted numerous divers from all parts of the world. The sole aim of Lacadives is the promotion of the sea and the sport of diving in all possible aspects – something that is to date our ruling directive. Our passion for being underwater, and the consequent desire to conserve our breathtaking ocean inheritance, is the foundation upon which our entire approach to diving stands. This means that whether you wish to join us just for a snorkeling trip or sign up for a Dive Master course, we want you to experience the same sense of wonder and awe that we feel every time we descend into the blue. Jurgen from Lacadives taught us to dive and helped me overcome my claustrophobia underwater. He is very patient and an amazing teacher. We did our open water certification at the Lacadives centre in Andaman Islands. The center is very well equipped and the staff is super polite and quick to respond to any needs. We dived at some of the best sites in Havelock island and Cinque island. I recommend fellow divers to connect with them for the best diving experience in the country.
