Description

The underwater world of St Eustatius is well known for its beauty. Photographers can choose between micro- or fishe eye-lenses according to the dive sites in a protected marine park. The total marine and terrestrial protected area covers about 33 km2 almost twice the size of the island ! The marine fauna is fantastic and you can see a few turtles during the same dive, as well as the famous spotted drum, seahorse, flying gurnard or frog fish. Giant barrel sponges, all sort of gorgonians, soft corals, stony corals, forests of sea fans, sea whips, etc. Reef dives, shallow dives, deep dives, wreck dives : for beginners and experienced divers !
The volcano The Quill dominates the Marine Park and a few thousand years ago created splendid lava flows which today are covered with several kinds of coral : stony coral, soft coral, sponges and gorgonias everywehere ! St Eustatius was one of the most important harbours in the world during the 17-18th centuries thanks to its commercial activities : over 2000 ships per year came to the island and, nowadays, you can still see the shape of a wreck covered with coral during your dives. You can also observe fantastic anchors lying on the sand and covered with colorful corals !

Quoi dire haaaaaaaa oui .... oui bonjour à Fredy hihihihihi

Safe and beautifull!

Diving in statia is a real pleasure. Very good visability. Lots of variety, wall diving, wreckdiving, so many different reefs!
If you've never been there, i bet once you've seen it, you'll come back!
Sometimes currents can be pretty strong, but that's no problem, you'll make a drift dive with the boat close by to pick you up!
One of the best things about diving in statia is the bigg variuety in reefs, species of marine life and the unexpected visitors of the reefs! I saw lots of reef sharks, nurse sharks, sometimes an eagle ray or even 2 or 3 together. We have seen manta rays, a big ass Giant Hammerhaed and yes, a Whaleshark!
Statia has an unspoiled underwaterlife. Every dive is exciting, what will we see? The guides know the reefs very well and point to all things which are interesting.

wish i could go back on holiday!
